Overview

Some cases leave marks that don't go away. Ujjwal Nikam has spent his career inside exactly those cases, the ones that demand everything and then come back for more.

There is the 1993 Bombay Blasts case, and there is Ajmal Kasab's trial in the aftermath of 26/11, each one sitting differently inside him than the last, each one leaving something behind.

Prahaar isn't interested in the victories. It's interested in what they cost. Standing in a courtroom & prosecuting terror isn't heroic the way films usually frame it. It's exhausting, methodical, and done under the kind of scrutiny where powerful people are actively hoping you say something they can use against you. The system buckles under the weight of these cases, and Nikam is the one asked to hold it up.

When justice needs someone who won't look away from the heat of it, Ujjwal Nikam is already standing there.

Fun Facts

- Biopics about living political and legal figures are notoriously difficult to capture accurately, but the production team worked hand-in-hand with the real Ujjwal Nikam. Following the launch of the teaser, Nikam publicly praised Rajkummar Rao's dedication. He noted that the film feels incredibly authentic because it doesn't just focus on the famous landmark verdicts; it actively explores the deep emotional burden, isolation, and immense personal sacrifices his family experienced away from the courtroom spotlight.

- Known for his extreme shape-shifting dedication, Rajkummar Rao underwent rigorous prep to master Nikam's distinct courtroom presence. Beyond studying video footage of the real trial hearings, Rao worked closely with a specialized diction coach to seamlessly replicate Nikam’s unique vocal cadence, sharp hand gestures, and specific legal terminologies to pull off the high-stakes, dramatic monologue demanding the death sentence.
