Overview

Air was home, instinctive and easy. Earth is different because it fights back. Mastering it requires standing your ground. This is exactly how a fierce and blind fourteen-year-old from a small town becomes the teacher Aang desperately needs. Toph Beifong isn't what anyone expected, and that is why she is perfect for the role.

Their grueling journey toward Ba Sing Se anchors Season 2. This legendary walled city is the world’s last hope against the Fire Nation. But getting there means marching through a broken Earth Kingdom, which is too exhausted to trust a kid still trying to find his footing.

All the while, Azula hunts them. Cold, patient, and terrifyingly precise, she isn’t just chasing them; she is outmaneuvering them. When the group finally reaches Ba Sing Se, they realise its massive walls aren't just there to keep the enemy out, but to lock a dark secret in.

Fun Facts

- Netflix held an open casting call specifically looking for a blind or low-vision actor of East Asian descent to ensure authentic representation. Miya Cech ultimately won the role. Gordon Cormier (Aang) revealed in a Netflix Tudum interview that she 'fits right in' and plays Toph exactly how he pictured her from the original animation.

- While Season 1 used the 'Volume' which is the giant LED screen technology used in The Mandalorian, Season 2 utilized more on-location filming in British Columbia to capture the sprawling, organic feel of the Earth Kingdom’s forests and mountains.
