Overview

In the spring of 1997, five people bought a Swedish investment company called Trustor. On paper, everything looked legitimate. But just three months later, it all came crashing down, exposing one of Sweden’s biggest financial crimes. Nobody could quite explain what happened, who did what, or why the new owners suddenly became incredibly rich from something that should never have worked.

Joachim Posener, the man everyone blamed, disappeared and remained hidden from Interpol and the Swedish police for nearly three decades, until now.

Documentary director Karin af Klintberg tracked him down and convinced him to speak for the first time since 1997. What unfolds is neither a confession nor a justification, but a complicated account of a man explaining himself decades later, alongside new testimonies from people with their own versions of what actually happened.

Six hundred million disappeared, and five people walked free. The real question remains: Where did the money go, and was anyone actually guilty?

Fun Facts

- A wanted international fugitive took a break from hiding to write a book. In 2004, while still evading Swedish authorities and listed as internationally wanted, Joachim Posener published Internationellt efterlyst: Mitt liv efter Trustor (“Internationally Wanted: My Life After Trustor”), telling his side of the story after the Trustor scandal. Most fugitives try to stay invisible. Posener put his story in a book.
