Ishqnama
Overview
Nimma is Indian and Naseema is Pakistani. The border between them carries the full weight of partition, religion, politics, and decades of grievance that neither of them had any role in building.
They find each other anyway.
None of what follows is easy or romantic. Geography is the first obstacle and never really stops being the only one. Their families carry the particular heaviness of tradition & expectation. The world around them had already decided what was permissible long before these two met, and it has no interest in revising that position for two people who found each other on the wrong side of a border.

Fun Facts
- Ishqnama is a true story adapted directly from Nirmal Singh's autobiography, Hind Pak Bordernama. Set in 1982, the film accurately captures the heartbreaking political and societal constraints faced by real-life lovers Nimma and Nasima across the India-Pakistan border.
- For her portrayal of Nasima, Shehnaaz Gill completely transformed her modern look to mirror the traditional Punjabi and cross-border aesthetics of 1982. The wardrobe and art departments sourced authentic vintage fabrics, jewelry, and old Punjabi bridal attire to avoid a glossy, modernized look. The film's initial posters—depicting a raw, emotional Shehnaaz holding an injured, war-torn Jayy Randhawa, instantly went viral for their vintage, cinematic texture.
