Little House on the Prairie
Overview
The prairie does not make anything easy, and Little House on the Prairie never pretends otherwise.
The Ingalls family works their land somewhere in the late-1800s Midwest, and every season brings them a different fight. Drought threatens whatever they have managed to grow. Winter tests how much cold a body can actually survive. Money is tight more often than it is comfortable, and the land owes nobody anything.

Fun Facts
- Netflix has immense faith in the appeal of this reimagined frontier drama. In March 2026, months before the public had seen a single episode, the streaming platform officially handed the production a Season 2 renewal. This allowed the writers' room to immediately break ground on future scripts and seamlessly queue up the casting for iconic book antagonist Nellie Oleson for the second chapter.
- Despite the complete visual and structural overhaul, the new series keeps a massive, direct umbilical cord tied to the original 1970s TV show. Among the powerhouse lineup of executive producers, which includes Susanna Fogel and Dana Fox, is Trip Friendly. He is the son of Ed Friendly, the visionary producer who bought the initial film rights to Wilder's books and brought the original Michael Landon series to NBC over 50 years ago.
