Malcolm in the Middle - Life's Still Unfair
Overview
Nearly 20 years have passed. Malcolm has built a life far away from chaos. He runs a charity, has a daughter, and maintains the distance he always needed from the family that nearly consumed him. He has a girlfriend and for the first time in his life, things are looking great.
Then Hal and Lois show up at his door demanding his presence at their 40th wedding anniversary. Malcolm cannot say no. With Leah and Tristan in tow, he is pulled back into the orbit he spent years escaping, and everything he thought he had put behind him comes back at once.
The chaos, the noise, the particular brand of love the Wilkerson family has always expressed badly: none of it went anywhere while he was gone. The four episodes remember why he left and slowly remind him why family, in all its dysfunction, never quite lets you walk away.

Fun Facts
- Unlike the original series, which was primarily filmed at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, California, Life's Still Unfair was filmed on location in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada between April and May 2025.
- Now in his mid-30s, Malcolm runs a food bank charity and lives a quiet life with his girlfriend, Tristan, and his teenage daughter, Leah. Having cut his family off for over a decade, Malcolm lied to Leah, claiming his parents were dead and he was an only child. In a fun twist on the show’s formula, Leah has inherited Malcolm's genius-level intelligence as well as his trademark fourth wall breaking inner monologues.
