Mating Season
Overview
Animals have no concept of love as humans do. Then again, nobody told humans either, and look how that turned out.
Mating season is a raw, unfiltered animated show where animals run the raunchy plot. It’s unfiltered and emotional at the same time. The adult innuendos bring out the series' laughter. It mostly focuses on love, intimacy, and relationships. The ups and downs of a relationship are a rocky ship that these groups of animals must deal with every day. We have Josh, who has come to realise that his girlfriend ditched him for a bear as he overslept during his hibernation. Ray has no emotional attachment; he will have a one-night stand with any animal, irrespective of their feelings, meaning no strings attached. Fawn and Dylan are in a serious relationship, and Penelope lacks the dating experience to succeed in the dating pool.
Mating season highlights the characters, their insecurities, and how they face them as they delve deeper into their fragile romantic world.

Fun Facts
- In a meta-marketing move, Netflix released a 2026 teaser featuring Ray Skidsky being interviewed by a forest troll on a podcast to promote the show.
- To capture the natural comedic timing of the cast, the producers built a rigorous script-first process before any animation began. Mark Levin mentioned that the team fully rewrites episodes before storyboarding starts, ensuring the stories are emotionally grounded and the jokes are working before a single frame is drawn. This helped the creators treat the animal characters with genuinely human clarity.
