Fun Facts
- While the makers have officially maintained that Brij Bhatti is a fictional character, the inspiration behind him is hard to miss. The character closely mirrors the life of Ratan Khatri, the real-life cotton trader who turned Matka from a niche pastime into a nationwide obsession in 1960s Bombay. Khatri is widely regarded as the original Matka King, and the show essentially traces that same arc, even if the names have been changed.
- To bring Brij Bhatti to life convincingly, Vijay Varma didn't just study the character on paper. He spent considerable time actually learning how the Matka game worked. Varma admitted that mastering it took a long while, but said it was essential on set, as his co-actors needed to genuinely understand the game to give him the right responses during the gambling scenes.
