Overview

After three years together, Max and Min are finally calling it quits. Unable to manage a clean break, their separation spirals into a petty, exhausting war over the division of their possessions.

The fiercest battle of all happens to be over their custody of a kitten. They named him Meowzaki after Hayao Miyazaki because the legendary filmmaker's movies originally brought them together when things were good.

As they argue constantly about custody, they weaponise old memories. Ultimately, the cat becomes a mirror reflecting their worst insecurities.

What begins as a bitter comedy about dividing apartment junk shifts into a bittersweet drama about how hard it is to let someone go.

Trapped right in the middle of their chaotic fighting, Meowzaki might actually be the only one capable of helping them survive this messy transition from lovers to total strangers. It might show them that endings too can be special.

Fun Facts

- The entire film's creative core is a direct tribute to Japanese animation maestro Hayao Miyazaki. The story follows Max (Siddharth Menon) and Min (Medha Shankr), a modern couple navigating a painful breakup who originally bonded over their shared love for Studio Ghibli films. The third protagonist is Meowzaki, their adorable kitten who becomes the centre of a chaotic custody battle and a larger metaphor for their healing.

- The film's visual design is packed with "hidden" clues. Production designer Vinay Vishwakarma filled Max’s contemporary Mumbai apartment with colorful tasseled curtains and framed Studio Ghibli posters. Meanwhile, costume designer Roshni Bose subtly wove feline motifs directly into Max's wardrobe to mirror his subconscious attachment to the cat, ironically contrasting his character's acute allergy to animal fur.
