M.I.A.
Overview
South Florida looks like a postcard. It has that particular kind of beauty which makes people forget there are problems at all - turquoise water, salt air, and the permanent feeling of a holiday that never quite ends.
Etta Tiger Jonze grew up somewhere that version of Florida never touched. She learned early how to read situations and people, and that instinct became a habit long before it became useful.
Her family ran a drug operation out of the Florida Keys, and Etta wanted in. She got her wish, until the cartel decided to add human trafficking to the arrangement. That was the line she would not cross. The decision cost her family their lives and left her as the only one who survived.

Fun Facts
- Unlike many Miami-set crime dramas that substitute locations with tax-friendly hubs like Atlanta or Puerto Rico, M.I.A. was shot extensively on-site in Miami and Key Largo. This authentic backdrop was a core production priority to capture the true, humid atmosphere described in the show’s official 'sub-tropical kingdom' logline.
- The series features a powerhouse ensemble of seasoned crime-drama veterans. The cast includes Alberto Guerra, Maurice Compte, and Danay Garcia, bringing a heavy dose of genre authenticity to the narrative.
