Mirzapur The Movie
Overview
Mirzapur has a throne, and in the years before everything that followed, it belonged to Kaleen Bhaiya without serious question.
This is that time. Kaleen Bhaiya holds his empire through sheer force and a refusal to blink when others fold. But cracks are already forming. His son Munna believes the inheritance is his by right and makes no effort to hide it. Guddu Pandit is a younger man here, still fighting with his father over whether a life in crime is the life he is choosing, before that question got answered in ways nobody came back from.
The rivals from Jaunpur are present. The alliances are forming and dissolving. The loyalties that would later be tested to breaking point are still being established.
Mirzapur: The Movie shows the city before the war the series made iconic. The throne was never safe. It just looked that way from the outside.

Fun Facts
- Mirzapur: The Movie marks the first time the franchise has moved beyond streaming to a theatrical release. The film is directed by Gurmeet Singh, who also helmed Seasons 2 and 3 of the series, and written by Puneet Krishna, the original creator of Mirzapur. The continuity of creative leadership ensures the film maintains the tone, language, and moral complexity on which the franchise built its reputation.
- The prequel format brings back Anjum Sharma as Sharad Shukla, the rival powerbroker from Jaunpur who became one of the franchise's most beloved characters before meeting his end in Season 3. Sharma confirmed his return in a Bollywood Hungama interview, saying: 'Every time I return to Banaras for Mirzapur, it feels like stepping back into Sharad's shoes. The city has its own energy, and it adds a layer to the story that no studio set could ever capture.
