Star Wars - Maul - Shadow Lord
Overview
Star Wars - Maul - Shadow Lord is an animated webseries set within the iconic Star Wars universe that explores the survival of Maul after the events on Naboo.
Maul was able to survive the events of Naboo, but Sidious abandoned him anyway. Then, several years after the Clone Wars, he arrives on Janix, a planet the Empire has not reached yet. He starts building a criminal syndicate there from the ground up. Not because he wants power for his own sake, but because he needs proof that he still exists in a galaxy that has moved on without him.

Fun Facts
- Voice actor Sam Witwer, who has voiced Maul across The Clone Wars, Rebels, and Solo, returned to headline the series. Witwer was brought on by series co-developer Dave Filoni over a year before production to help shape the character’s psychological arc. Witwer described the show as an intimate look into Maul's worldview, noting that while Maul has relatable feelings of betrayal and isolation, 'all he has in front of him are supervillain tools' to process them.
- The series pushed Lucasfilm Animation’s signature style forward. The team utilised advanced lighting and rendering techniques to give the neon-lit, rain-slicked lower levels of Janix a gritty, noir-thriller visual palette distinct from past animated Star Wars projects.
