Overview

They spend years on a set bringing scripture to life. Bear Grylls hands them something with no script at all.

The Chosen in the Wild takes five actors and a series creator from the groundbreaking historical drama and drops them into wilderness where the only thing that matters is whether they make it through the day. There are no characters here, no dialogue written for them, no safety net of a narrative holding everything together.

Bear Grylls takes them through Utah's Castle Valley and Canyonlands, along the Colorado River, across the Great Basin Desert, and into the Adirondack Forest. Each environment asks something different from people who are used to asking different things of themselves.

It is part survival expedition, part spiritual reckoning, and part documentary about what happens when actors stop performing & start living something. The cameras are still rolling. But for once, what they are capturing is real.

Fun Facts

- Bear Grylls designed the expedition to double as a deep spiritual retreat. While navigating canyon rappels and wild rivers, Grylls conducts candid, unscripted interviews with the actors about their personal faith journeys, mental health, and the emotional weight of portraying iconic biblical figures on screen.

- The 6 episode series brings together creator Dallas Jenkins alongside key cast members: Jonathan Roumie, Elizabeth Tabish, Paras Patel, Noah James and Luke Dimyan. Rather than safe soundstages, Grylls leads the actors through high-stress terrain, testing their physical limits across Utah's Castle Valley, Canyonlands, the Great Basin, the Ausable River, and the Colorado River.
