Overview

Robin Hood isn't the legend the stories built. Years of violence and irreversible choices have worn him down. Agreeing to one final job, he helps his old companion Little John rescue his captive family, less out of heroism than a hope that the violence will finally kill him. Gravely wounded instead, and hunted by old and new enemies, he's taken in by Sister Brigid, a prioress offering him a shot at salvation. But redemption isn't simple for a man who has killed women, children, and whole families. What follows is less adventure than reckoning, Robin stripped of myth and confronting who he really is.

Fun Facts

- Hugh Jackman himself noted that The Death of Robin Hood felt "very reminiscent" of his acclaimed 2017 film Logan both stories following a broken, aging man of violence at the end of his life, stripped of myth and confronting mortality. Director Michael Sarnoski acknowledged the comparison but was initially cautious about it, noting both films ultimately owe their DNA to samurai movies and Westerns rather than to each other.

- In a massive departure from traditional Robin Hood lore, Jodie Comer does not play Robin's classic love interest, Maid Marian. Instead, she stars as Sister Brigid, the mysterious religious woman who takes in the dying outlaw and offers him a grueling chance at spiritual salvation.
