The Devil's Mouth
Overview
Thailand was supposed to be the goodbye trip. A natural wonder, the kind of place people photograph and other people envy from office chairs. Nobody mentioned the storm.
A week earlier, a freak weather event flooded the cave system with sea life pulled in from the ocean. Most of it died in the fresh water. Not all of it. A bull shark survived, and somewhere in the dark, narrow corridors of the Devil's Mouth, it is still there.
The friends realise too late that they are not alone. Fast, silent, and completely at home in conditions working against every instinct the group has, the shark is not panicking. They are. Oxygen runs low. The exits get harder to find. The trust that looked solid on the surface starts fracturing under the pressure of every wrong turn and every sound in the water that nobody can place.

Fun Facts
- The entire cast earned official diving certifications before filming began. Kathryn Newton confirmed this in the film's press materials, saying: 'We all got our divers certification to do the underwater scenes. Now I can add underwater acting to my resume.' Principal photography took place over eight weeks across Krabi province, Chiang Mai and Bangkok, with the cast kayaking into actual coastal caves, diving, and swimming in open water throughout the shoot.
- Before it became The Devil's Mouth, the script had a different title entirely. Written by Aja Gabel and Myung Joh Wesner under the title Apex, the screenplay was featured on the 2019 Hollywood Black List - the annual survey of the most-liked unproduced scripts in Hollywood. It took six years from that recognition to reach the screen, with Jeff Wadlow coming on board in 2023 and Amazon MGM Studios and Lionsgate confirming the production in 2025.
