The Dog Stars
Overview
The flu takes almost everyone. Hig makes it through. His wife does not. Neither do most people.
What's left of the world is scattered and hostile. Reapers move through it in roving bands, hunting survivors without hesitation, without mercy, without reason beyond the fact they can. Staying alive has become the only ambition available.
Hig lives in an abandoned airport hangar with his dog & Bangley, an ex-Marine who treats survival as a discipline, routines & defenses built to keep hope out of the way. It is bleak, but it functions.
Then a radio signal comes through the static, a possibility that life might be worth more than existing behind locked doors. Against Bangley's resistance, Hig climbs into his 1956 Cessna and flies, chasing a rumour of Grand Junction, a place that might offer more.
Survival is only instinct. In this world, choosing to remain human is something else entirely.

Fun Facts
- Ridley Scott is famously prolific, but he has been exceptionally vocal about this project. Ahead of its release, Scott generated massive buzz by publicly stating that he considers The Dog Stars to be his best sci-fi/survival piece since 2015's The Martian.
- Because Jacob Elordi's character, Hig, is a pilot who relies on a 1956 Cessna 182 to patrol the skies and look for signs of life, Ridley Scott resisted heavy digital plane modeling. The production design team spent months tracking down and restoring fully functioning, period-accurate vintage Cessna models to ensure the aerial sequences over the rugged landscapes felt incredibly tactile.
