The Furious
Overview
Wang Wei is a mute handyman living quietly in Southeast Asia, the kind of man nobody notices twice. His daughter Rainy visits him from mainland China during her school holidays.
When she is lured off a busy street by a boy faking an injury and taken by a trafficking ring with corrupt police on its payroll, Wei goes to the authorities and gets nothing.
So he goes himself.
His only ally is Navin, an Indonesian journalist whose wife has vanished inside the same criminal network.
What begins as two desperate men chasing separate losses quickly becomes a single, violent collision with an organised international trafficking operation that has spent years staying untouchable.

Fun Facts
- The two lead actors, China’s Xie Miao and Indonesia’s Joe Taslim, could barely speak to each other off-camera. Xie Miao does not speak fluent English, and Taslim does not speak Mandarin. Instead of letting it hinder them, they used choreography as their primary language. They spent weeks rehearsing and bonding strictly through movement, physical cues, and martial arts training. Taslim noted that the lack of spoken language actually made their on-screen chemistry stronger, as their characters are forced to trust each other through action.
- When Kenji Tanigaki initially signed on, his goal was just to make a 'very good action movie' in the vein of Taken or Commando. It was legendary producer Bill Kong who pushed the limits. This shifted the entire direction of the film, prompting Tanigaki to bring in Kensuke Sonomura as the main action director so they could co-engineer some of the most complex, bone-crunching choreography ever put on film.
