Overview
A year after the Chroma Conclave, the Vox Machina has scattered. Every one of them was searching for new beginnings which is the perfect package of affection, goals, and family. But then they have other things to take care of. They needed to survive, so they had to forgo everything.
Scanlan hit the road with Kaylie for a father-daughter world tour. Vax and Keyleth headed to the Fire Ashari. Percy and Vex settled into Whitestone for Winter's Crest. Pike and Grog did what Pike and Grog do. It almost looked like they were going to be fine.
Then the Whispered One's cult began to move. His followers, the Remnants, are snatching souls and working to bring him back. This is not a new name to Vox Machina. The Whispered One was already summoned once by Delilah Briarwood back in Season 1, beneath the Whitestone Castle. They stopped it then. Barely. Now, the threat is no longer in a basement. It is fully awake, and it knows they exist.

- The production team confirmed that the story will follow the heroes on separate journeys across Exandria before a cataclysmic event forces them back together. This allowed the animators to explore diverse locations like the Dwendalian Empire and the Shadowfell in much greater detail.
- Sam Riegel joked during a panel that he 'fired himself' from the role to let a professional like Wayne Brady bring the 'flamboyant, wealthy chaos' of Tary to life in animation.
