The WONDERfools
Overview
It is 1999 in Haeseong City and Y2K panic has the entire country on edge. Eun Chae Ni lives in the town with her grandmother Kim Jeon Bok, who runs a well-known restaurant in Haeseong. Eun is impulsive, bright, and entirely her own person. But on one particular day, her destiny gets tied into a rare situation as she finds herself entangled with a superpower that was entirely uncalled for.
Her neighbours Son Gyeong Un and Kang Ro Bin are right there when it happens and they pick up abilities too. In this world, folks like them are known as defective superhumans. They have powers, but the catch is that they cannot control them, and they often go haywire at the most inopportune times.

Fun Facts
- The WONDERfools began life in 2018 as a K-drama adaptation of The B-Team, an original IP from Stan Lee, with his production company POW! Entertainment involved in early development. The Stan Lee connection was eventually dropped, but the idea of a team of imperfect heroes made it all the way to Netflix.
- The 1999 setting is not just a backdrop. Haeseong City is packed with pagers, cassette tapes, tube TVs, and genuine Y2K dread. Gaining an uncontrollable superpower in that world feels less like a gift and more like one more thing going wrong.
