X-Men 97 Season 2
Overview
The X-Men scattered across time, and Season 2 picks up from that exact moment without any delay.
The team is divided across eras with no way to reach each other. Jean Grey and Cyclops are stranded in 3960 A.D. Rogue, Nightcrawler, and Beast are in Ancient Egypt circa 3000 B.C. Logan, despite having his adamantium skeleton torn apart by Magneto in the Season 1 finale, appears to be alive. Each group is cut off and surviving on whatever the era around them offers.
Back in the 1990s, the X-Men's absence has consequences. Mutant intolerance is growing and suspicious forces are moving into the space the team has left behind.

Fun Facts
- The production of Season 2 was defined by a massive backstage shakeup. Original head writer Beau DeMayo completed the scripts for Season 2 before being abruptly fired by Marvel Studios in March 2024. To steady the ship, Marvel hired Matthew Chauncey to take over as the new head writer. Chauncey oversaw the rewrites and post-production adjustments for the season, though DeMayo still retained writing and executive producer credits.
- Season 2 quietly assembled a remarkable Star Trek: The Next Generation reunion in its voice cast. Gates McFadden, who played Dr. Beverly Crusher across seven seasons of TNG, voices Mother Askani. Michael Dorn, known globally as Worf, voices Baal. John de Lancie, the iconic Q, voices the time-travelling villain Rama-Tut. Three of TNG's most beloved cast members joining the same animated Marvel season — without any of the fanfare the crossover deserved.
